Notes	Text: FOREWORD. This booklet is intended to give the reader a practical pictorial history of the development of probably the greatest oil field in the World. The statistics relative to the initial production of various wells pictured, as well as values wherever mentioned, have been secured from sources that we believe to be reliable, but are not guaranteed. The principal point with which we desire to impress the Reader, is the fact that this enormous development which has taken place in such a comparatively short space of time, has not been brought about by the fortune hunter, but mainly by the concentrated capital of the largest oil producing companies in this Country. The fact that these enormous expenditures are being made by the largest and most highly organized oil producing companies, indicates that the industry at this point is destined to be long-lived.
