Vignette	(C) Half-dome bearing printed words ''Our Country'' surmounted by flagstaff flying Bonnie Blue Flag with large single star on dark field with many smaller stars. Dome is awash in agitated or troubled waters.
Notes	This county scrip was issued in Bellville by Austin County. The left side of the note depicts a rectangular border with the abbreviation ''No'' in a separate rectangle and the number ''1681'' is handwritten beside it; the phrase ''Receivable for all County Taxes and Dues.'' is below it surrounded by a border with vines. The center of the note depicts a dome with a flag, which is overprinted with the words, '' OUR COUNTRY.'' The words ''Austin County'' appear below the dome in all caps and a decorative Victorian type font. The note amount is spelled out in solid, all caps, letter font beneath. The Arabic numeral ''25'' appears below this vignette. Along the right side of the note a simple Arabic numeral ''25'' is printed within a decorative cartouche or escutcheon. The imprint ''Texas Pr. House, Houston-E. W. CAVE]'' is across the bottom left of the note. The note is signed on the recto by B. F. Elliott, Auditor, and J. H. Catlin, Chief Justice. The date, October 1, 1862, is printed. BC-12. The 1860 census for Travis Pct., Austin County, M653, roll 1287, page 229, lines 22-30, lists J. H. Catlin, as a 49-year-old farmer, born in Ohio, with real estate valued at $18,000 and personal property at $15,000. He and his presumed spouse had 6 children. 1860 census for Bellville, Austin County, M653, roll 1287, page 158, lines 36-38, lists B. F. Elliott, 33-year-old district clerk, a native of Georgia, with a wife and child.
