Notes	This treasury warrant was issued in Springfield by Limestone County. A simple line borders each edge of the note. An ornate design comprises the left border. The following imprint appears adjacent to the left border: Houston Telegraph Print. An ornate but smaller design comprises the right border of the note. The number ''5'' is printed towards the upper-left corner. The abbreviation ''No.'' is printed in the upper-right corner; the number ''98'' is handwritten adjacent to it in red ink. The following phrase is printed in an arc design between the dollar amount and the note number: TREASURY WARRANT. The month, day, and last digit of the year are handwritten towards the upper-right corner of the note; the first three digits of the year, 186, are printed adjacent to them. The phrase ''LIMESTONE COUNTY'' appears across the face of the note. It is signed on the recto by James M. Davis, County Clerk, and Jesse S. Ellis, Chief Justice. Davis, a North Carolina native, lists his occupation in the 1860 Census as county clerk. Ellis, a Georgia native, lists his occupation in the 1860 Census as a farmer; he is listed in the 1863 Texas Almanac as chief justice of Limestone County. BC-227.
