Notes	This treasury warrant was issued in Kaufman by Kaufman County. A decorative design borders the left edge of the note. The phrase ''RECEIVABLE FOR COUNTY DUES.'' is printed in a rectangle design in the left border of the note. The phrase ''COUNTY COURT.'' is printed in the right border. The abbreviation ''No.'' is printed in the upper-left corner; the number ''72'' is handwritten adjacent to it. A vignette of a steam tug and ships appears next to the number. The number ''3'' is printed in the upper-right corner. A larger number ''3'' is printed towards the upper-right corner in green ink; the phrase ''TREASURY WARRANT'' is printed in black ink in an arc design above the number. A decorative green overprint covers most of the note. The following imprint appears in the center of the bottom edge of the note: [Texas Pr House, Houston--E. W. Cave.] The note is signed on the recto by A. B. Robinson, County Treasurer; Percival Mucklaw Moorhouse, County Clerk; and William Duncan Irvine, Chief Justice. The word ''Boboon'' is written on the verso. Two Robinsons are listed in Kaufman County in the 1870 Census, A. B. Robinson and Aron B. Robinson. Moorhouse, a native of England, served in the Civil War, was elected county clerk from 1862-1864, and is buried in the Becker family cemetery in Kaufman County (TXGenWeb: Kaufman County--Civil War Soldiers Known to be Buried in Kaufman County Texas and Becker Family Cemetery). Irvine fought in the Texas Revolution and the Civil War (TXGenWeb: Kaufman County--William Duncan Irvine). In addition he served as justice of the peace, county commissioner, and county judge (1862-1864) (Ibid.)
