Notes	This audited draft was issued in Houston by the Republic of Texas. Houston was established in 1836 to replace Harrisburg, which had been burned by Santa Anna. Named after Sam Houston, it was the seat of government from April 19, 1837, to January 18, 1840. This note is entirely handwritten on buff color paper. Hand-drawn lines border three of the four edges of the note. The phrase ''No. 7322'' is handwritten over hand-drawn lines in the upper-left corner of the note. The amount ''$150,00'' is written in the upper-right corner over hand-drawn lines. The note is signed on the recto by Francis Richard Lubbock, Comptroller (TSHA), and John Wyatt Moody, Auditor (TARO). The word ''Cancelled'' is written over Lubbock's name. It is endorsed on the verso by Alexander Wray Ewing. Lubbock was a comptroller of the Republic of Texas as well as governor of the state beginning in 1861 (TSHA). Moody was the auditor for the Provisional Government of Texas and later for the Republic (TARO and Texas History Page). Ewing was named surgeon general of the Texas army on April 6, 1836, and treated the wound Sam Houston incurred during the Battle of San Jacinto (TSHA). CR: HW-6.
