Notes	This audited draft was issued in Galveston by the Republic of Texas. Although never the seat of government, Galveston was the major port of entry to Texas and the custom house under Gail Borden accumulated most of the hard money which Texas received during the Republic era. Drafts were drawn by the Treasury against these funds. This note is a certificate of entitlement for pay in the Texian Army. A decorative printer's design borders the left, top, and bottom edges of the note. The abbreviation ''No.'' is printed in a black oval in the upper-left corner of the note; the number ''2340'' is handwritten adjacent to it. A dollar sign is printed in the upper-right corner; the number ''113'' is handwritten adjacent to it. The month, day, and last digit of the year are handwritten; the first three digits of the year, 183, are printed. The phrase ''THIS CERTIFICATE'' is printed in a simple serif font in the upper-center of the note. On the next line, the word ''Entitles'' appears in a small, fancy Gothic-style font. Partly printed and partly handwritten, the note states the following: '' Entitles Jno Mulholland to One hundred & thirteen Dollars, for 24 of bounty & 11 Months and Seven days' services, from 24th Dec 1836 until 1st Dec 1837 as private in Cap Irons Co (K) Infantry.'' The following are handwritten on the verso of the note: ''John Mulholland'' and ''Witness J G Burnham.''
