Notes	This county scrip was issued in Caldwell by Burleson County. The entire note is printed in blue ink with the exception of a red ink overprint of the phrase ''1 ONE 1'' printed across the face of the note; the word ''ONE'' is in a shadow case. A decorative design borders the left edge of the note; the word ''ONE'' is printed within the design. The abbreviation ''No.'' is printed in the upper-left corner; the number ''1425'' is handwritten adjacent to it. The phrase ''Burleson County Script.'' appears across the top of the note in a Gothic-style font. Beneath it ''Caldwell'' is printed in a Gothic typeface along with the year, 1862; the month and day are handwritten adjacent to the year. The plate designation ''C'' appears in the upper-right corner of the note. Printed in a Victorian-style font in the center of the note is the amount, ''ONE DOLLAR.'' Below this the phrase ''County Treasury'' is printed in a simple Roman typeface, while the surrounding text is in script-style font. On the verso of the note the word ''TEXAS'' is printed in gold-color ink in a fancy, bold, three-dimensional Victorian typeface. The 1860 census for Caldwell, Burleson County, Texas, M653, roll 1289, p. 107, line 16, lists L. Shoemaker as a 30-year-old ''Co[unty]. Clerk'' and a native of Tennessee with real estate valued at $4,000 and personal property worth $10,000. BC-48.
