Notes	This county scrip was issued in Belton by Bell County. It is a plain note printed on brown paper. A double-spiral printer's design border appears along the left side of the note. The phrase ''Bell County Scrip.'' is printed in all caps and a simulated wood font across the center of the note. The following is stated underneath: ''The Treasurer of Bell County will pay to Simeon Bramlet or bearer, TWO DOLLARS in Confederate Notes....'' The amount is in all caps and a simple serif font. The amount ''$2.00'' appears in upper right corner as Arabic numerals. A single-spiral printer's design border appears along the right side of the note. Ruled lines are printed at the top and bottom along whole length of note. The number ''848'' is handwritten next to the abbreviation ''No.'' The date September 2d, 1862 is printed. The note is signed on the recto by James Leach, Clerk of Bell County, and E. Walker, Chief Justice of Bell County (House Journal of the Twelfth Legislature, State of Texas, First Session (1870) and 1860 Census). It is endorsed on the verso by J W Scott. The 1860 census for Belton, Bell County, Texas, M653, roll 1288, page 327, lines 36-, lists S. Bramlet as a 55-year-old master carpenter, born in Virginia. His real estate was valued at $3,000 and his personal property at $11,275. The 1860 census for Belton, Bell County, M653, roll 1288, p. 298, line 12-, lists John W. Scott as a 48-year-old wheelwright, born in Tennessee. BC-21.
