Description	Portrait of Private Robert Cotter, 16th Texas Infantry, 1st Texas Mounted Rifles, 13th Texas Dismounted Cavalry. Cotter wears a rare Texas star belt plate. Cotter had a long career as a Texas Ranger, was involved with the Battle of Washita, and fought with Cotter had a long career as a Texas Ranger, was involved with the Battle of Washita, and fought with John Salmon Ford in the 1850s. Sixth plate lightly tinted ambrotype in case with octagon center and leaf motif border.
