Plain Text Transcription	Letter 61 [postmarked Apr 9, 1766] [Address panel:] To Mrs Wadsworth at Mr Ford’s Lodgings In the Vineyards Bath Somersetshire My d[ea]r Friend I must tell you d[ea]r Jos[eph] is arrived & is so pure well that he has put me quite into spirits. He is a setting[?] forward among the good people. What is fate will be I know not. Before he came we was all alike but matters stand so that I fancy they will offer him to preach in order to bring him round, for they are in a sad taking[?] about all the clergy. I see him this morning & am to see him & his sister tomorrow morning which I long for as I find dear Miss Charlotte [Townsend?] is as clear as the light. Mr M___[?] was with her yesterday & Sir Charles but news & the stamp Act was the chief. There really is such a misery that the sights of d[ea]r Jos[eph] was quite a cordial. Mrs M, Toney, H, and Mr M was a W---- Chappel last night. They had a good close upon this text, “Keep yourselves in the Love of God.” He said he did believe many professors would now ? [p. 2] say of us these people are filled with new wine. I long to hear that Mr Fletcher is come & that Mr Brown is gone. Better have failed I believe to Mr Hicks for after two I can get no news about him. Something is in hand & we shall see the salvation of the Lord with us. Do write to Brown & send him off & if the Chappel is that up one surely it is of no consequence. I shall wait with impatience to hear of you or from you. Being ever & ever my d[ea]r friend Your most affectionate & sincere obliged & devoted WednesdayS: H [April 9? Check London postmark on original] [note: was a Wed.in 1766 & this letter sends news that Joseph has arrived. In the Apr 7 letter she was very worried about [him?])
Notes	Date supplied by postmark. Date is determined to be a Wednesday in 1766 and contains the news that Joseph [Townsend] has arrived. In the April 7th letter, SH is quite concerned about this.
