Plain Text Transcription	Letter 118 [March 24, 1790] My very dear Friends The letter you favour'd me with did most truly rejoice my heart the Zeal faithfullness & diligence in our Pre[c]ious & most dear master ['s] service is a Cordial above all things here below - Waugh, & Price, is to waite on you on Saturday May the Lord make them faithfull to your wishes - France had so possessed me after Your letter & the way appearing so clear to follow it effectually, that my mind was Humbled with high Praise the French Ambassador is now or will be at the Bath soon, & a Card of proper respect by Ford as to a foreigner & tickets sent as my us[u]al Custom to those of another Country & from you also & if he Chose any Particular Place in the Gallery or Elsewhere that it should be provided - the French are charm'd with these kinds of attentions, my present Plan is to get my Friend Sir John Peter to go over (as he knows all rules well) & applie from me to Necker & agree for the finest Church in Paris, their Finances are so low that they will rejoice to have me [by" smeared] purchase it - Sir John being the Kings Consel at Ostend will be proper as he has been engaged for the like in the services of the Low Countries if he will but go, then not be a single doubt & with a proper application to the french ambassador here & now my d[ea]r friends business of greatest importance as explained I must tell you of my daily Crosses that follow every step of my Road - Poor d[ea]r Hastings Lyes dead now of the small Pox one of the most sweet Youngmen for person abilities & the finest disposition living, Mr Eyers was his Master & delighted in him - his death was heavenly He said better Crowns & Coronets was above - no desires for life & said I will trust in him tho he was to destroy me - near nine hours he Continued in divine & heavenly Prayer & then lay one hour in sweet Peace & like one on the road to his fathers house only waited to yield yield [sic] his happy soul to his Saviours hands - the only Child of his aged parents - I fear sorrow will kill them both - the Love and Gratitude shewd living to me ever shewed a faithfull & simple heart - those days before that, the doctor gave over a Blessed youngman who is dying & made so usefull in Oxford that the hearts of the People are ready to break these things sink me with a bad Cold more than Common & that poor T--- trying me daily by his unfaithfull & prevailing Injustice - but also for Comfort with a letter from Banbury from a Gracious & sensible man who assures me at this time five County towns he knows are Calling upon me for the Gospel all dark as Pagans - Seven out of fourteen students are in other new places within a month sent out, more promising ones are offering also - Poor Best & myself are day & night at work (as I would hope) as faithfull slaves yet with willing of offering of all. He is a in business & his whole heart is in it with mine. My d[ea]r friends pray for Labourers to be sent to us - the prospers not bitter enmity at the glorious success in all parts. Every thing that is most Gratefull, and affec[tiona]te as ever yours from S. Huntingdon [On top of p. 3:] do forgive this scrible, writing becomes heavy but your letters so animate & warm my heart if I was dying I must try to thank you I have no answer from DeCourcy yet, Doctor Ford Comes with Canniford into the Changes for the first week in May next for him & the Mulbury Gardens.
