Plain Text Transcription	Letter 104 [Handwritten] Feb 3 1790 My very dear Friends The pleasure I have in writing to you receives so painfull an abatement by those various distresses that the Lord seems to try all the little faith & patience I have, & I am apt to say in the voice of Cain's brood my punishment seems greater than I am able to bear. All I have had about Taylor is "Let him alone". He sent for Mr Best & sent me a demand of six hundred pounds. Glouscester chapel is __________ of the money. This unknown till it was done & engaged for by himself & so it remains. He only liable but he throws this upon me, & I am willing to suffer any thing rather than any chapel of mine should ever stand in his name. What must I say for these most cruel demands & unfair ones also but look to the possessor of heaven & earth. I suppose more will appear yet. Mr Foster as I am told knows for three years of his criminal practices & tho I mean not to make your kindness less to him, justice to you must oblige me to guard you. Sheppherd & Ford mean to leave me. To make them stay looking out for three or four to join them to take of[f] the burden from them yet keep their nonsibly[?]. There is a nest of troublesome friends of Wills, that want me to receive[?] him. His general conduct brings him so low and mean & that spirit of division that he lives only by & while so despised I conclude his friends are tired of him & would be glad to get rid of him & throw him upon me but my warm negations makes them dispair. I don't wonder you wish Lady D ___ in silver street & was she not an old friend of my dear Mrs Haweis you would have known more of her [p. 2] & I believe from her conduct to the W---s they will have reason to curse her all the days of their lives. May the Lord pitty and forgive her. All goes peaceable & most blessedly here tho all means used to ____ & divide used. My suffering ever the same. It is the Lord's hand, wise & good. I have much to say that would fill more than a letter but I would not lose one frank & will get another for my long representations to you then Depend upon you for the plan. My dear, dear friend, think of poor Bath as long as possible or advise your successor Taylor. You may want it put out of the connection for good, but I leave all to your better & more kind consideration for such a poor invalid. I will try with love & thankfulness you advise but distress & oppression makes all appear little. Love to our dear & faithful friends, to both ever & am ever ever affectionately your poor devoted Friend [no signature] Spa Fields Park Feb. 3, 1790
