Plain Text Transcription	Letter 77 [Dec 5 1768] [Address panel:] To Mrs Wadsworth at Mr Burkin’s in Spring Garden near the Admiralty office Westminster My dearest Friend Your letter made me very happy. D[ea]r Calab has been with me & you must suppose great joy it was. He would not preach & we had much sweet Commete[?]. He is beginning to be tried & I was glad of this. He feels the burden now so strong of dead sleepy spirits that it quite would weaken his hands. O! the days of trial[?] are blessed days. You have had many but I would not have spar'd you one tho I feel so tenderly for you. O! this great tribulation must be past thro to scrub our robes with. [of Rev 7:14, “These are they which came out, great tribulation and have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.”] come to Bath, my d[ea]rest friend, I shall have a bed by Wednesday sen'night that will be comfortable for you. Help me to draw water & bear burdens. We shall get to the canning[?] work within the temple. It is all rough work here yet. [p. 2] Mrs Edwin goes about abusing me highly but I don't dislike it. The Chappel is full & sweet hearers don't fear. Andrews[?] can never[?] stand for one moment behind the eagle. [stand behind the eagle=preach?] I do believe the people would all go out. Could I be such a fool if it was so, but d[ea]r Howel [Harris] has a fresh gale[?] with lasting[?] [hot fury?] thunder bolts. My love to d[ea]r Mrs Burken. I am quite troubled she is so ill. How is her heart? D[ea]r Calab will be here on Tuesday if he does not hear from me, but I believe Mr Whitfield will make Howel stay one week or more longer. I approve Mr Branaford’s [might be Bromfield] directions for you. The Lord will take care of you. A voyage to America would cure you. I am ready. Let the Lord but call. This year is to be a wonderfull [p. 3] year. Very great things are to happen by all that have wrote upon the times & I hope something will rouse us all for the Lord. All is lost moments that are not burning with zeal & love for him. I am such a drone that I groan over myself with misery, but O! he can, he can rouse the dead, keep[?] warm & don't get one bit of imp____ [?] Your strength is growing. O may he bles[ses) us in following him thro fire & water. There is more solid delight in zeal & faithfullness to him than all things else. He _____ feeds his soldiers well, clothes them well & conquers for them & many spoils obtain'd in our battles. D[ea]r Lady Ann is all love to you.
