[1765?]
My
dear
Friends
I
am
bound
to
thank
you
for
my
letter
by the
last
post
as
I
hope
(by
the
Lord’s
leave)
to
Go
from this
place
Some
day
this
week
for
Bath
.
Mr
&
Mrs
Wills
accompany
me
there
&
dear
Townsend
takes
Care
of
St
Agnes
till
their
return—severe
attack
of
suffering
from
my
Compounded
state
of
gout
and
stone
kindly
brought
his
Physical
Care
as
we
as
tender
compassion
for
me
to
give
me
every
friendly
assistance
&
his
old
spirit
seemed
to
unite
my
heart
to the
Lord
in
expecting
a
revival
that will be
manifest
in the
end
I
must
believe
he has in
order
to
release
Mr
Wills
for
Bath
taken
the
whole
care
of this
Parish—Pugh
giving
him he
help
of the
common
duties
of the
parish
he
now
chuses
the
Serious
Subjects
with
me
&
open
sweet
and
friendly
,
I
feel
no
different[?]
to him
&
if
prayers
&
tears
Could
help
to
Bless
him he
could
never
want
them from
me
.
I
feel
myself
at his
feet
.
More
the
object
of
many
than
I
can
see
him. He
now
speaks
&
prays
with
[p
.
2]
with the
poor
&
the
sick
.
O
!
think
how
happy
this
makes
me
.
I
don’t
let
him
see
this but
take
my
thoughts
[“vis”]
if
ever
he
appears
for
God
it
will be as an
Apostle
indeed
.
I
am
willing
to
wish
for this
Blessedness
over
him from the
Lord
he
feels
(I
am
sure)
the
meanness
[increase]
of
every
reserve
where
the
Lord
Calls
&
I
do
believe
he
waits
&
prays
for
this—don’t
think
me
bad
[brash?]
&
sanguine
in this but
believe
it
the
true
Charity
that
hopeth
all
things
from the
Lord’s
tender
Mercies
to his
Church
.
O
! how
we
want
labourers
.
My
heart
mourns
for them. This
country
would be
gathered
had
we
hands
for the
harvest
.
Dear
Mr
Glasscot
with but a
few
Sermons
has
done
much
on
warming
the
hearts
of
hundreds
&
awakening
Many
.
We
seem
to have
done
little
but that
sweet
passage
of the
Mustard
Seed
has been
so
opened
&
blest
to
me
that
I
leave
Cornwall
fully
satisfied
in
my
heart
. The
time
is
coming
when
these
little
Hills
of
Sion
Shall
be for a
Name
&
a
praise
upon
the
Earth
to the
dear
Immanuel’s
glory
.
Nothing
can
come
up
to the
aff[ectiona]te
&
tender
care
of the
dear
Wills
for
me
. They would
[p
.
3]
heartily
unite
in the
wish
of
having
you
both
with us he
is
a
real
Blessing
to this
place—
May
the
Lord
extend
his
borders
yet
further
it
is
his
own
Choice
to
go
to
Bath
as
I
don’t
winter
with them
&
I
believe
the
hopes
of
sharing
the
labour
with
our
dear
Mr
Haweis
has a
great
share
in the
satisfaction
he
&
his
dear
wife
is
ever
alive
for the
one
point
of her
Gracious
heart—
My
poor
vile
Body
will
make
it
a
very
long
journey
to
Bath—but
this with
all
else
is
for the
Lord
when
it
lives
or
when
it
dies
&
our
Work
Calls
for
much
Care
,
diligence
&
faithfulness
while
the
Lord
smiles
so
powerfully
upon
us
&
I
must
believe
greater
things
are at the
door
if
I
have
ever
known
the
voice
of the
Lord
.
I
can’t
pretend
to
resist
the
arguments
urged
on the
subject
of
women’s
Testimony
for the
Lord
,
yet
see
the
special
&
particular
to the
one
point
they are
call’d
to
&
for
some
one
purpose
.
When
this
appears
from the
Authority
duely
[sic]
received
the
great
necessity
layed
upon
them by the
Holy
Ghost
renders
their
Commission
such
as will
subject
all
to the
accomplishment
of
God’s
ends
for them.
[p
.
4]
With
respect
to
Myself
this has been the
Matter
between
the
Lord
and
my
own
heart
&
as he has
Seen
this in
Secret
he has
favoured
me
with
many
more
voices
[?]
for him,
&
where
mine
could
not have
reached
yet
always
this
constant
reserve
before
him that his
call
&
mind
[?]
Well
understood
should
carry
me
to the
ends
of the
earth
for or as his
living
Sacrifice
,
&
in this
I
am
a
happy
creature
&
in this
late
near
approach
to the
Grave
I
thought
nothing
about
life
or
death
but
O
! the
Glory
of
seeing
only
&
that
simply
his Will
being
done
in
me
&
by
me
&
Could
joyfully
present
him with
every
earthly
or
heavenly
choice
for
me
.
O
! the
Glory
of
seeing
only
&
that
simply
his Will
being
done
in
me
&
by
me
&
Cold
joyfully
present
him with
every
earthly
or
heavenly
Choice
for
me
.
O
!
my
dear
friend
I
could
preach
for him had
I
ceased
to
breath
&
alas
how
little
very
little
that would be for
such
a
worm
of his
mercy
as
I
am
upon
earth
–
Dear
Jos[eph]
desires
to
hear
from
me
&
I
mean
to
write
as
soon
as
I
can
get
to
Bath
as
I
find
much
liberty
in
my
heart
for
it
.
I
enter
upon
no
particulars
farther
than he
himself
carrys
me
into
&
am
silent
where
premature
faithfulness
appears
to
me
as
such
–
knowing
how
both
your
hearts
are
engaged
on this
subject
it
is
a
great
Joy
to
give
these
hopes
