Certificate from Spencer Madan, Bishop of Peterborough, authorizing T.H. to be absent from his parish of Aldwincle in Northamptonshire for a period of two years on account of the ill health of his wife [Elizabeth] and conditional on the employment of a curate to cover for his absence. On the reverse of the license is a note from John Hodgson at Buckden in Huntingonshire to T.H. requesting payment of the license fee of £10, which should be sent to Hodgeson at 27 Parliament Street, Westminster.
