Receipt for £100 paid to T. Austin and partners by Mrs [Elizabeth] Haweis (Elizabeth Haweis (1778-1855) was the daughter of the Guards officer Captain Alexander McDowall of Ballytrust, Co.Cavanagh in Ireland. She became the third wife of Thomas Haweis in March 1803, having acted as his secretary the previous year. She is buried in Bath cemetery.) on 20 March 1820 and also for £120.10.4 paid by _ McDowell Esq. on 19 April 1820. This money (total of £221.10.4) represents the expenses of the funeral and mourning for the late Reverend Thomas Haweis. (1 sheet, 1p.) March/April 1820 |
