From Charlotte Margaret Noel in Brighton, Sussex to [Elizabeth] Haweis at 5 Beaufort Buildings, Bath. Elizabeth’s sweet letter has gone unanswered for a long time, but she could not give the desired information until now, namely the day on which Elizabeth kindly promised to ‘more particularly to remember me before the throne of grace. It is to be (God willing) next Friday 22nd January. The Lord has evidently been the director of my paths and has ordered all things according to his own good pleasure…therefore I may pray for a blessing on our approaching union…’ (reference to Charlotte's forthcoming marriage) How will she be able to part with her dear mother who gave her birth and watched over her with a mother’s care, especially as mother is very unwell at the present?
