Notes |
Pugh was the vicar of Rauceby. Haweis' son, John Oliver Willyams Haweis, has noted on the letter that Pugh is discussing Mr. Jane's will. Money from Joseph Jane (1716-1795), Haweis' former Vicar at Oxford, was used to establish The Church Missionary Society. Haweis' son, as noted on the address panel, is dismissive of the letter and of his father's involvement with Jane. (see more information about Haweis, Pugh and Jane in the proceedings of the Wesley Historical Society dated June, 1952, Vol. XXVIII. http://www.biblicalstudies.org.uk/pdf/whs/28-6.pdf). |
