From

Illingworth
in
Frith
Street
,
London
, to
T.H
.
(see
also the
letter
of
Dr
.
John
Ford
to
Thomas
Haweis
dated
July
27
,
1794)
Enclosed
are the
title
deeds
‘in
Captain
Willyams’
indemnity’
as
follows
:
1.Original
title
or
conveyance
toWillyams
himself
.
2.Conveyance
of those
estates
and an
assignment
of
1796
with his
counter-bond
of
indemnity
to
T.H
.
3.Copy
of the
bond
for
£4500
.
Illingworth
has
alsosent
to
Colonel
Willyams
a
counterpart
of the
deed
of
indemnity
and a
schedule
of the
deeds
that
T.H
. has and an
attested
copy
of the
counterbond
., with a
covering
letter
of
explanation
. The
deeds
were
all
duly
executed
at
Mr
Wilson’s
house
last
week
and he
understands
that the
marriage
will
take
place
next
Monday
.
Mr
Willyams
has
just
been with
Illingworth
and
asked
that the
bill
be
forwarded
to
T.H
. as the
more
direct
and
straightforward
way
of
obtaining
payment
.
Willyams
will
call
at
Bath
in
Somerset
and will
no
doubt
explain
to
T.H
.
why
he has
done
this. The
amount
is
larger
than
Illingworth
would
wish
but there has been
some
complicated
business
involved
in this
marriage
settlement
–
if there had not been the
need
for the
extra
deeds
of
indemnity
, the
bill
would have not been
half
as
much
. The
individual
items
are as a
low
and
sometimes
lower
than they
normally
charge
. There was
some
additional
cost
because
of the
attested
copies
.
Illingworth
has the
pleasure
of
informing
T.H
. that there
is
an
opening
for the
distribution
of a
few
thousand
copies
of
'The
Soldier’s
Calling'
(Thomas
Haweis
, The
Soldier’s
Calling
: A
Tract
(Lewes:1793))
at
Colchester
(location
of
large
military
camp)
in
Essex
by
Mr
[Robert]
Storry
,
Rector
of
St
Peter’s
–
he
is
a
pious
and
faithful
servant
of
Christ
.
Illingworth
has not
yet
sent
the
copies
and
is
waiting
for
T.H.’s
permission
to
do
so
–
he
intends
sending
1000
copies
at
Illingworth’s
own
expense
. This
publication
has
already
done
a
great
deal
of
good
.
