Plain Text Transcription	From Spencer Madan, Bishop of Peterborough, at Baldock in Hertfordshire, to T.H. at the “Vineyards” in Bath, Somerset. As Madan is away from home, T.H.’s letter was considerably delayed in reaching him and he has had no chance of answering it until now that he is on his way back to Peterborough. He will be very willing to allow T.H. a grant for non-residence as far as the Act of Parliament allows, but T.H. did not specify a length of time that he will be away from his parish. He cannot grant permission for more than two years and Madan also needs a statement from a doctor to the effect that T.H. needs time away from the parish for the sake of his health. Notes	Spencer Madan was the younger brother of the prominent evangelical Martin Madan.
