From Richard Ash Hannaford at Aldwincle near Oundle in Northamptonshire to T.H. at Beaufort Buildings in Bath, Somerset. Hannaford is now writing from his home to thank T.H. for the accommodation. In addition to the house, he has the paddock and half of the home close. He assumes that the garden is included in the £10 rent. The house was very damp and will decay very fast indeed – he is saying this as a friend. ‘Mr [William] Griffin (with whom I wish never more to have any unnecessary communication) tells me that I never said the house was in good repair. If he told you so, this is another proof of what he is.’ Hannaford has been asked to say that the salary due to the master of the Sunday school is now due. T.H. kindly promised to subscribe two guineas per annum – how will this be paid? (1sheet, 1p.) 4 January 1814 |
