Plain Text Transcription	John Foster at Brearly Hall, Halifax, Yorkshire, to ‘The Gentleman Managers of the Particular Baptist Fund’, addressed to James Smith at Islington in London. Three years have passed since he first applied to ‘your very respectable society.’ All his applications have been favorably received and now his time here has come to a close. Reflection on the years that he has spent under their patronage fills him with a mixture of pleasing and disagreeable sensations. He is uncomfortably aware of his lack of piety and diligence in the Lord’s work. The society’s help has however enabled to expand his intellectual powers and knowledge of God and himself. His acquaintance with religion has deepened and he made some small advances in literature and science. Foster has fully determined to devote himself to God and the service of God. The kindness of the society has placed him under a tremendous obligation. It has raised him above difficulties that would otherwise have been insuperable. (1 sheet, 3p.) 27 August 1791
