[Address]

Dear
Sir
,
You
told
me
when
in
town
,
''You
did
not
write
to those with
whom
you
have
no
business.''
But there
is
no
General
Rule
without
an
exception
.
Besides
,
I
have
business
with
you
(as
your
servant
for
Christ’s
sake)
and
business
of the
last
importance
.
You
always
took
it
kindly
when
I
put
you
in
mind
of the
one
thing
needful
and
expressed
my
jealous
fears
lest
you
should
overlook
or
lose
sight
of
it
in
your
many
cares
and
distractions
.
I
cannot
charge
myself
with
unfaithfulness
towards
you
.
I
have not
shunned
to
declare
unto
you
the
whole
counsel
of
God
. He has
given
me
,
I
am
persuaded
, a
single
eye
, a
sincere
disinterested
love
for
your
soul
, and
my
heart’s
desire
and
prayer
to
God
for
you
is
that
you
may
be
saved
! here and
hereafter
. That
you
may
now
receive
the
experimental
knowledge
of
salvation
by the
remission
of
your
sins
and be
found
among
the
sheep
in that
day
!
Still
I
hope
to
meet
you
on the
Right
.
Innumerable
have been the
mercies
of
your
past
life
, and
shall
they
all
be
lost
?
God
forbid
. He
is
pursuing
you
still
. He
often
knocks
at the
door
of
your
heart
.
May
you
, in
reading
this,
hear
his
voice
and
open
the
door
! He
waits—to
be
gracious
.
Even
to
hoar
hairs
he has
borne
, and
carried
, and
delivered
you
.
Account
that his
longsuffering
is
salvation
.
Ask
and
receive
power
to
give
him
your
whole
heart
.
You
have
certainly
met
with
many
stumbling
blocks
. But
who
has not? The
Scripture
must
be
fulfilled
.
It
is
impossible
but that
offences
should
come
. The
tares
grow
together
with the
wheat
.
Nevertheless
(whoever
falls)
the
foundation
standeth
sure
. And
blessed
is
he
who
is
not
offended
.
Blessed
is
the
man
whose
sin
is
forgiven
. This
blessedness
may
be
yours
and
mine
.
We
have
nothing
else
to
do
upon
earth
but to
secure
it
: to
live
in
peace
,
die
in
peace
,
go
in
peace—to
paradise
.
Mrs
Lloyd
informs
me
of
your
kind
mention
of
me
in
London
. At the
same
time
I
heard
of
your
late
visit
of
Bath
.
You
was
too
nimble
for us or
I
would have
caught
you
there.
Give
me
a
beck
and
I
will
come
a
longer
journey
to
see
you
.
’Tis
quite
uncertain
my
coming
to
London
again
. But
wherever
we
are
still
in the
body
,
I
shall
stir
up
your
mind
by
way
of
remembrance
.
Remember
how
you
have
received
, and
heard
, and
hold
fast
your
hope
of
present
eternal
salvation
.
Remember
Lot’s
wife
!
Remember
Demas
.
Remember
one
whose
bowels
yearn
over
you
and
who
earnestly
remembers
you
still
! The
night
cometh
when
no
man
can
work
out
his
salvation
.
Most
sensibly
I
perceive
my
night
cometh
.
You
also are on the
brink
of
eternity
.
We
have
neither
of us any
time
to
lose
.
Let
us
''manage
wisely
our
last
state.''
You
may
stay
behind
me
a
few
days
or
we
may
take
our
flight
together
. The
Lord
make
us
ready
and
find
us
watching
and in
peace
!
Your
heart
joins
in the
prayer
of,
my
dear
Sir
,
Your
faithful
friend
and
servant
C
Wesley
