Transcription	[Address panel:] Wednesday, 16 Septr To The Revd. Dr. Wait Rectory Blagdon Langford BRISTOL Paid [Endorsed by Wait along left edge of address panel:] Mr Wesley Sept 16 1829 [Circular postmark on center right side of address panel stamped "PAID 16 Sept 1829: [perhaps a Bristol postmark]. A rectangular postmark stamped in black ink, on verso of address panel, enclosing two words. One appears to be "Charing"; the second is illegible but is not "Cross] London Wednesday Sepe 16 1829 My dear Sir I fully determined to set off Yesterday Morning for Bristol "in sure & certain Hope" of our exchanging the right hand of Fellowship [Greek – in the inn] sed Diis aliter visum [“but the gods decided otherwise"] for I could obtain no Inside Place in the Coach, & to have travelled on the out had been determined Suicide. I have however now Secured a seat for To-morrow Morng (17th ) & trust that (benigno Numine) [“By the favor of the heavens”] I may arrive at the Goal at the promised Hour at Night in the New Company's Vehicle, depositing its ponderous Onus amid Feathers in I know not what Street of my Pupdom. I calculate upon the Probability of our Meeting Loco supradicto [“in the place noted above”] & am vexed at the former involuntary Disappointment, [Greek phrase - kicking rather hard against the goad of the wife] Valeas! [“Take care”] S Wesley [Note: The addressee is likely Daniel Guilford Wait (1789-1850).]
