This image depicts Battery C, 3rd U.S. Artillery, commanded by Captain Horatio Gates Gibson, U.S.A. Gibson's battery was part of the U.S. Horse Artillery Brigade of the Army of the Potomac, which during 1862 participated in the Peninsula Campaign.
