Description
This photograph shows military hospital barracks . The facility was known as 'Camp Misery. ' This is the 'second ' Convalescent Camp that was constructed in modern day Arlington County , near the location of the Army-Navy Country Club , and not the first camp that was located at the foot of Shuters Hill , Alexandria , VA . The first camp was closed after several soldiers froze to death during the winter of 1862-1863 and the second one constructed with the same name . The second camp was completed by February 1863 .
