Description |
The Rockefeller family's country estate, Kykuit, was designed by architects Delano and Aldrich and completed in 1913 for Standard Oil founder John D. Rockefeller, Sr. The interior of the main residence, known within the family as the Big House, was designed by Ogden Codman. Encompassing over 3000 acres, the estate also includes gardens, a golf course, and notable buildings such as the Coach Barn and the Tudor-style mansion known as the Playhouse. Kykuit's formal gardens were designed by landscape architect William Welles Bosworth.
