Notes |
Letter 01. A London postmark is only partially legible; the day is '8,' but the month,IA' - i.e.January' - is a guess. The princesses were sisters of George III. Princess Caroline died on December 28, 1757. Mrs. Grinfield was Lady of the Bedchamber to the King's two daughters. Lady Huntingdon through her letters was encouraging her to bear a Methodist witness at Court. Unfortunately, Mrs. Grinfield became too bold in trying to influence the Princesses through the guidance of Lady Huntingdon and she was dismissed from the court. Father of the two princesses was George II and mother was Caroline of Ansbach. |
