‘We, John [Parsons], Bishop of Peterborough, do hereby certify that we are satisfied and verily believe that the cause of granting the license hereunto annexed really and truly has existed during the period of seventeen months immediately antecedent to the grant thereof, and that we would have granted license of non-residence on the benefice of Aldwincle All Saints…to the therein named Thomas Haweis during the period of seventeen months …if proper application had or could have been made to us in due time…14 June 1814’. (1 sheet, 1p.) John [Parsons] to T.H. enclosing a certificate (1. above) - this should be sufficient to protect T.H. under the terms of the Indemnity Act. 14 June 1814 |
